lamezquiteraMasterplan

TFO Architecture provided Concept Master Planning Design Services that addressed a strategy of overall development opportunities for multiple block parcels (approximately forty hectares) within the central urban hub of Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. Done in collaboration with the property owners, Grupo Alcon, and the architects Elias Estudio E, the "La Mezquitera" Vision Plan is an opportunity to establish a much needed town center for emerging Leon, Mexico. As a new symbolic heart for Leon, La Mezquitera will bring a lasting social, cultural and economic value while creating a sustainable, well integrated and culturally identifiable mixed-use destination. La Mezquitera's plan honors the existing civic fabric of Leon by integrating the historic hacienda, Casa de Piedra, and its newly added resort hotel and cultural center as the northern destination anchor of the plan. This new plan's central exis is oriented around the historic 40-meter wide, mesquite tree-lined parkway leading to the hacienda. This gardened view corridor is protected and restored as the central linear park open space with the heart of the Vision Plan - "La Mezquitera".

This strategic urban plan offers all of the conveniences of a contemporary and 'walkable' city, complete with a new town center featuring auto-accessible pedestrian streets, a new cultural center, hotels, lifestyle retailers, local restaurants, entertainment, residential apartments, an office district, along with a center for social events.
